In an interview last weekend, Jama reflected on those early experiences, saying: 'I hate the word "strong" because why do you always have to be strong? But I am resilient.'Īfter moving to London, Jama lived with Rico's family and even slept in his old bedroom as she threw herself into work, starting with a job as a runner for the production company Jump Off TV.
Jama has not spoken to her father since she made a documentary about him in 2017 leading to a short-lived reunion, but remains close to Swedish mum, Sadie, who was just 18 when she gave birth.
